Add it to the list of great things popping up in Birmingham’s Avondale neighborhood. Founded in 2011, Freshfully is a market and café that offers locally grown vegetables, grass-fed meat, fresh produce, cheeses, eggs and pantry staples bought directly from the farmers themselves.

Interested in eating more fresh foods and a healthier lifestyle, founders Sam Brasseale and Jen Barnett came up with the idea to launch a website that would make it easier to find and buy locally grown and delicious fresh produce. The pair entered and won the first Incubate!(bang) new business competition and received funding to launch their site. Just by entering your zip code on the site, you can find fresh, local products that are available for pickup at locations near your desired zip code. They didn’t just stop with a website, though. In May 2012, Freshfully Market opened its doors, and with the support of the local community has become a great success.

Today, Freshfully receives deliveries from local farmers six days a week including seasonal fruits and vegetables, grass-fed meat, farm eggs and cheese, and even weekly veggie boxes. For shoppers that want a fresh taste of the products they are purchasing, Freshfully’s café offers sandwiches, salads, and smoothies using their ingredients.

Whether you stop by for a quick lunch or buy the ingredients to make your own sandwich or salad, we’re sure you’ll be returning again and again to Freshfully Market.
